I just saw your question for littleradge and I thought I'd let you know that I stayed at Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel during the fringe this year and it was really very nice :)

hey :) excuse my creeping but I saw that you asked littleradge about places to stay in Edinburgh. I'd recommend Castle Rock Hostel. It's in the centre, really friendly and pretty cheap too :D Plus, all the rooms are like painted and stuff - it's really awesome! I can't put links in asks, but just google 'Castle Rock Hostel, Edinburgh.' hope this helps.
